Huxley Golf Provides Tournament Quality Putting Surface For Alfred Dunhill Million Dollar Putt

Highlighting the benevolent and sporting spirit of the event, all competitors were asked to donate a voluntary entry fee of £5 to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, a funder and supporter of projects worldwide which use sport to help change communities for the better. This charity was Alfred Dunhill's chosen recipient also for one half of the million dollar prize, if won, with the remaining 500,000 dollars going to a charity of the winner's choice.

The two players who scored the lowest rounds on each day qualified for the grand final in which 10 players battled it out around the putting course to win the right to go for the Alfred Dunhill Million Dollar Putt. Over the five days of the qualifying competition, the best score was an amazing round of six consecutive holes-in-one carded by John Sanders. The second lowest qualifying score of 7 was recorded by Charlotte Presland. Each hole measured around 20ft (6m) in length and incorporated life-like contours to increase the challenge and level of difficulty.

The ultimate winner of the grand final was Frenchman, Antoine Boudron, a low handicap golfer who took 10 putts to go round the six-hole putting course. Unfortunately, his attempt at the 60ft (18.3m) Million Dollar Putt was the correct length, but not on the right line. However, he took home a dunhill gift voucher for £499 while the nine runners-up all received gift vouchers worth £250.

Constructed using Huxley Golf's Modular Greens system, the six-hole all-weather putting course specially created for the event featured a tournament quality all-weather turf surface, regulation-size pin cups and movable tee positions so that the putting course used for the grand final was not the same as for the qualifying rounds.

In addition to supplying and laying out the six-hole putting course on approximately one-third of the 72ft (22m) diameter Broadgate Arena, Huxley Golf installed its premium all-weather pathway turf onto the remaining two-thirds of the arena. This provided a durable, safe and silent surface for competitor registration and waiting, for the scorers and for hospitality purposes.

The total surface area covered by Huxley Golf with premier all-weather turf measured some 2,000 sq ft (186 sq m), with installation and dismantling taking less than two days and half a day respectively.
